Please read this privacy policy to learn more about:

  • What personally identifiable information of yours Debix collects.
  • How Debix uses personally identifiable information.
  • With whom Debix shares personally identifiable information.
  • How you can access and change your Account information.

  • How to contact Debix.

Information Collected

Registration:
In order to use Debix Identity Protection service ("Debix service"), users must first complete the activation of an account on this Web site. To activate an account, users are required to provide: user's name, password, valid email address, and a valid phone number. To use Debix software to place a Debix Identity Protection on the user's credit file, the user is also required to provide: user's residence address, previous residence address, and history of residence and/or billing information, Social Security Number; birth date, and gender. More extensive confirmations may necessitate the disclosure of additional personally identifiable information. You are not required to provide this information to Debix in order to use all Debix services, because a Debix service user may manually put a Debix Identity Protection on his or her own credit file using pre-existing procedures for placing Fraud Alerts on credit files at the national credit bureaus.

Profile Information:
In addition, activated users may provide additional information in the Profile section, such as your credit card information. Providing additional information beyond what is required for activation is entirely optional, but enables you to better identify yourself and use the Debix service to its fullest potential. Debix will comply with Cardholder Data and PCI Data Security Standards.

Cookies & Log Files:
Like most Web sites, www.debix.com uses cookies and web log files to track usage. A cookie is a tiny data file which resides on your computer and allows us to recognize you as a user when you return to the Debix website or web application using the same computer and web browser. You may set your browser to inform you when cookies are being placed on your computer and therefore, you have the opportunity to decide whether to accept a cookie. If your browser settings do not allow cookies, you will not be able to use the areas of our Web site for members or activated users. Debix uses the information it collects through the use of cookies solely in the administration, provision and improvement of the Debix web site and the Debix services. Cookies and log file data are used to enhance and/or customize your experience on the web site.

One type of cookie, known as a "persistent" cookie, is set once you've logged in to your Debix account. The next time you visit the Debix Web site or Debix web application, the persistent cookie will allow the Debix service to recognize you as a previous visitor or user. In order to access or change any of your private information (like a credit card number), you may be required to log in again with your password even if your computer contains a persistent cookie. Additionally, if you log out of the member-only areas of the Debix Web site, you will need to re-enter your password and PIN (Personal Identification Number) the next time you visit in order to log in.

Another type of cookie, called a "session" cookie, is used to identify a particular visit to the Debix Web site. Session cookies expire after a short time or when you close your web browser. Due to the communications standards on the Internet, when you visit the Debix Web site or web application Debix automatically receives the URL of the Web site from which you came and the Web site to which you are going when you leave www.debix.com. Debix also receives the Internet protocol (IP) address of your computer (or the proxy server you use to access the World Wide Web), your computer operating system and type of web browser you are using, as well as the name of your Internet service provider (ISP). Debix may use this information to analyze overall trends to help us improve the Debix service, but Debix does not generally link this information to personally identifiable information in any way.

Children:
The Debix web site, the Debix services and the Debix software are intended for use solely by adults, 18 years of age and older. Parents/guardians can register their children under 18 years of age for the Debix service but children are not eligible to sign up directly for our service and should not submit any personal information to us. If you are under the age of 18, please refrain from using the Debix web site, the Debix services and the Debix software. If you are an adult and believe your child, or any other minor, has submitted personal information through this web site, please contact us by selecting "Contact Us" at www.debix.com or at the mailing address below.

Information Use

Debix Identity Protection is an online Web application dedicated to preventing, and solving issues related to identity fraud. Debix collects certain types of information in order to operate and improve our service for you and other users. Debix is the sole owner of the information collected on this site.

Debix Communications:
Debix will communicate with you through email and notices posted on this web site and through Debix software. These include a series of welcome, verification, and informational emails that are part of the activation process, and also help to inform new users about various features of the Debix services. Please be aware that as long as you are a registered member of Debix, you will receive certain emails related to the proper functioning of your account. Debix may send promotional information about Debix products and services, however, users may "opt out" of receiving such information. To opt-out of receiving all promotional emails, please send a request to customer_service@debix.com.

Customized Content:
Information you provide at registration or in your Profile section is also used to customize your experience on the web site.

Information Sharing

Sharing Information With Affiliates:
Debix may share any information it collects with its affiliates.

Sharing Information With Third Parties:
Debix takes the privacy of our users very seriously. As a result, except as provided herein, Debix will never sell, rent, or intentionally provide your personally identifiable information to any third parties for their marketing purposes. Debix may share your personally identifiable information with third party service providers engaged by Debix to provide services to Debix. For instance, Debix may use a credit card processing company to bill users for subscription fees. These third parties are not permitted to retain, share, or store any personally identifiable information except to provide these services and are bound by strict confidentiality agreements which limit their use of such information. Debix may share your name, state of primary residence, registration date, activation code, and other administrative data with third parties who have paid for your service license.

Using Debix services, you may also share your personally identifiable information with third parties. For instance, you may use Debix services to facilitate communications with certain credit reporting agencies.

In addition, Debix may share your personally identifiable information with third parties in order to carry out your instructions or to provide specific services requested by you. Debix is not responsible for any services offered by a third party, including, without limitation, any policy such third party may have regarding the privacy of personal identifiable information. You should consult their terms and conditions.
Debix may share your personally identifiable information with a third party in connection with a change of control, merger or sale of Debix or substantially all of Debix assets.

Debix may share your personally identifiable information with a third party in connection with any request by law enforcement such as when Debix believes there may be misuse of Debix services, to investigate a possible crime, when Debix has a good-faith belief that it is necessary to comply with a court or agency order, ongoing judicial proceeding, or other legal process served on Debix or one of its third party service providers, to exercise Debix's legal rights, and/or to defend against legal claims.

Singular Summary and Aggregate Statistical Information
Debix may share personal demographic and profile data regarding users of our services. This data also does not contain personally identifying information but may describe information regarding group usage of the service and/or group demographic information.

Legal Disclaimer:
It is possible that we may need to disclose personal information when required by law. We will disclose such information wherein we have a good-faith belief that it is necessary to comply with a court order, ongoing judicial proceeding, or other legal process served on our company or to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims.

Accessing and Changing Your Account Information

You can review the personal information you provide us and, unless otherwise indicated, make any desired changes to the information that Debix retains in its custody and control, or to the settings for your Debix account, at any time by logging into your account on the Debix web site or through the Debix software and editing the information on your Profile page. You can request that Debix remove your personal information from our database and that your account be closed in writing. See "Contacting Us" later in this document.

Although Debix must maintain certain personally identifiable information in order to administer the Debix system and services, resolve potential disputes, comply with official investigations or proceedings and enforce Debix's agreements, that information will be maintained for limited purposes, and for the time period required under applicable law or Debix's then current internal data retention policies.

Security

Debix utilizes a wide range of advanced technologies for Internet and secure interactive voice security, including multi-band, multi-factor authentication, data encryption, and database data encryption.

When you attempt to access secure areas of Debix.com or sign into the Debix Identity Protection Web application, Debix will authenticate you with patent-pending Debix Identity Protection technology.

Debix protects your information over the Internet by using a secure Web server, which allows your Web browser programs (Microsoft Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) to interact with Debix's Web server via an encrypted session. Debix uses a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection that provides an encrypted connection between your computer and Debix. The 128 bit encrypted connection scrambles ordinary text or data into cyphertext to safeguard your information as it is transmitted over the Internet. The information is decrypted, or put back into a readable format, when it reaches its intended destination.

In addition, your sensitive personal information, such as your password, are encrypted and stored in a database using a "one-way hash", meaning the data cannot be unencrypted under any circumstances, and can only be used to verify the validity of the information once the correct information is provided.

Debix associates with each user a unique user name, password, phone number, and PIN that must be entered each time a user signs in. Debix.com and the Debix Identity Protection Web application issue a session "cookie" only to record encrypted authentication information for the duration of a specific session. The session "cookie" does not include the user name, password, or PIN of the user. Neither Debix.com nor the Debix Identity Protection Web application use "cookies" to store other confidential user and session information, but instead implement more advanced security methods based on dynamic data and encoded session IDs.

In addition, Debix.com and the Debix Identity Protection Web application are hosted in a secure server environment that employs state-of-the-art firewall and other advanced technology to prevent interference or access from outside and unauthorized inside intruders.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, there is always some element of risk involved in sending personal information on-line. YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT, IN CONNECTION WITH THE DEBIX SERVICE, INFORMATION SHALL BE TRANSMITTED OVER LOCAL EXCHANGE, INTEREXCHANGE AND INTERNET BACKBONE CARRIER LINES AND THROUGH ROUTERS, SWITCHES AND OTHER DEVICES OWNED, MAINTAINED, AND SERVICED BY THIRD PARTY LOCAL EXCHANGE AND LONG DISTANCE CARRIERS, UTILITIES, INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND OTHERS, ALL OF WHICH ARE BEYOND THE CONTROL AND JURISDICTION OF DEBIX. ACCORDINGLY, DEBIX ASSUMES NO LIABILITY FOR OR RELATING TO THE DELAY, FAILURE, INTERRUPTION OR CORRUPTION OF ANY DATA OR OTHER INFORMATION TRANSMITTED IN CONNECTION WITH THE DEBIX SERVICE. DEBIX FURTHER MAKES NO WARRANTY AND ASSUMES NO LIABILITY REGARDING THE AVAILABILITY, RELIABILITY, OR SUITABILITY OF ANY INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER OR DIGITAL SUBSCRIBER LINE SERVICES.

DEBIX MAKES NO WARRANTIES AS TO THE SECURITY OF USER'S DATA COMMUNICATIONS, OR THAT THIRD PARTIES WILL NOT GAIN UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR MONITOR USERS' COMPUTER(S) OR ONLINE COMMUNICATIONS. YOU AGREE THAT DEBIX WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY SUCH ACCESS.

Framing and Linking

Some of the content on the Debix Web site may be provided through the use of framing or linking technology. Using this technology from the Debix Web site, you may view content that may reside on a third party's server. In that case, the third party may place a cookie on your computer and any personal information you provide to that third party may be used by that third party in a manner that Debix cannot control. By accessing any third party content through our Web site, you are assuming all liability from and risk of the use of such content, including the use of cookies. Debix has no responsibility or liability for any cookie placed by a third party, for any content viewed on a third party's server or for any use they may make of information you choose to provide that third party. If you are concerned about a third party's web site privacy practices, please review the privacy policy for that site.
